This research aims to study the art therapy experience for child abuse survivors. For this study, in-depth interviews were conducted with five children who had experienced abuse and the results were analyzed according to the evidence theory method. As a result of open coding, 96 concepts, 36 subcategories, and 18 categories were derived. As a result of axial coding, the central phenomenon was revealed as a ¡°family that could not protect,¡± and a paradigm model for the art therapy experience of child abuse survivors was presented. The core category was found as ¡°building a new me toward growth.¡± The art therapy experience process for child abuse survivors is in five stages. and it was shown as a change from ¡°an endless black hole,¡± ¡°a ray of sunlight in a gray tunnel,¡± ¡°surviving on a remote and lonely island,¡± ¡°holding out hope beyond therapy,¡± to ¡°raising priming water.¡± Based on the results of this research, we discussed what kind of art therapy experiences the child abuse survivors go through to ¡°build a new me toward growth¡± and suggested a follow-up study. This study is significant because it revealed the art therapy experience process for child abuse survivors and proposed their art therapy model stage by stage.
